Cookie Policy

1. What Are Cookies and Similar Technologies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They allow a site to recognize your browser, remember certain information and help keep things secure. We also use related technologies such as local storage, pixels and server-side logging (collectively, "cookies" for this Policy).
This Cookie Policy explains how URL.Diet ("we", "us") uses cookies on url.diet and in connection with URL.Diet short links and QR codes, and how you can control them.
2. How URL.Diet Uses Cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies to:
- Deliver the core URL shortening, redirect and QR code functionality.
- Keep the platform secure, fight spam and abuse, and manage network traffic.
- Remember basic preferences (such as view modes or filters) to improve your experience.
- Understand, in aggregate, how people use url.diet so we can improve performance and usability.
Where required by law, we will only place non‑essential cookies (for example, certain analytics or marketing cookies) after obtaining your consent.
3. Types of Cookies We Use
3.1 Essential (Strictly Necessary) Cookies
These cookies are required for url.diet to function and cannot be switched off in our systems. They are usually only set in response to actions made by you, such as navigating the site, loading pages through our edge network, or protecting forms and sessions from abuse.
Examples include cookies set by our infrastructure provider (Cloudflare) to:
- Identify and filter bot or malicious traffic.
- Maintain load-balancing and routing across data centers.
- Allow security challenges (such as CAPTCHA) to function when needed.
Without these cookies, parts of url.diet will not work correctly. We rely on our legitimate interests in providing a secure, reliable service to use these cookies.
3.2 Analytics & Performance Cookies
These cookies (or similar technologies) help us understand how visitors use url.diet – for example, which pages are visited most often, how quickly pages load, and how people move through the interface.
We currently focus on aggregate and pseudonymous measurement, and we do not use analytics cookies to build individual marketing profiles. If we integrate additional analytics tools in the future, we will update this Policy and, where required, ask for your consent before placing those cookies.
3.3 Preference Cookies
Preference cookies remember choices you make, such as language, layout preferences or which view mode you last used on the Links page. These cookies make the interface feel more consistent but are not strictly required for the site to function.
3.4 Marketing & Advertising Cookies
URL.Diet is not currently focused on third‑party advertising cookies. If we later introduce marketing or retargeting cookies (for example, with ad platforms or social networks), we will list those partners here, only use them where permitted by law, and provide clear choices to opt in or out.
4. Third‑Party Cookies & Cloudflare
Because URL.Diet runs on Cloudflare's edge network and may integrate external tools, some cookies are set by third parties, not directly by url.diet. For example, Cloudflare may set cookies to distinguish legitimate traffic from bots and to keep the Service fast and secure.
These providers have their own privacy and cookie practices. You can learn more about Cloudflare's cookies on their documentation site: Cloudflare cookie documentation.
If we embed content from other services (for example, videos, forms or widgets), those services may set their own cookies when you interact with them. We recommend reviewing their policies if you choose to use those features.
5. Managing Your Cookie Preferences
Most web browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings. Depending on your browser, you may be able to:
- Block all cookies or only certain types of cookies.
- Delete cookies that have already been set.
- Receive notifications when a site wants to place a cookie.
If you disable or block certain cookies, parts of url.diet may not function correctly or may be less secure. Essential cookies, in particular, are needed to deliver the core Services.
Some browsers and devices also offer controls to limit tracking or advertising identifiers. For more information, consult your browser or device's help pages under "Privacy" or "Cookies" settings.
6. "Do Not Track" Signals
Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" (DNT) setting. There is currently no common industry standard for how websites should respond to these signals, and URL.Diet does not interpret or respond to DNT signals at this time. We will review this approach if standards evolve.
7. Changes to This Cookie Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy to reflect changes in our technology, providers or legal requirements. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, provide additional notice.
